Case Study

User Scenario

Aidan(user) wants to go surfing in South Africa while he's on vacation, he wants to keep an overview of the key data of the beaches of South Africa to to see if there are good waves for surfing. During his vacation Aidan wants to keep up with the waves, but he also wants to find random activities when he's back in the city after surfing. If he goes slightly over his budget, he wants to be able to adjust his budget so that he can keep an overview of his expenses during his trip.

Concept

Catch the wave is a website/application through which surfers of any level can create an account, plan and book a surf trip. In the application, the user gets the core data of the beach that he wants to go surf. This allows the user to see if there are any good waves to go surf.

Apart from surfing, the user can still plan spontaneous activities in his or hers calendar. The user has created a budget for the trip, but this can easily change through different unexpected reasons. Catch The Wave allows the user to change his or her budget to his need.

Problem statement

Surfers from all levels of expertise have been having a hard time catching great waves when they’re on vacation. When the sun goes down, the fun doesn’t stop for the surfers. But be careful to not go over budget!

Most Important Iterations

The most important iteration I’ve done here is: Bring data forward and took away the underline in text that made it unclear if it was a link or not.

The most important iteration I’ve done here is: I put a search bar, which makes it much easier for the user to find what he or she is looking for. I’ve also put a ‘carousel’ right underneath the search bar, which lets the user search a bit more specifically.

The most important iteration I’ve done here is: I fixed the visual hierarchy, which makes it easier to read for the user. I’ve also added a darkmode, this will be helpful for when the user is in too much sun or just for personal preference. I’ve also brought data forward, the user can now see the ratings on the beaches an they can also see how far it is from their location.
